Driven by our mission of “shaping a secure global future together,” the Centre galvanizes leadership and engagement in the world, in partnership with key partners, to shape solutions to global cyberspace challenges.
Mission + Vision + Opportunity.
The Africa Cyber Centre of Excellence will :
- Harness our capacity to connect with a wider community to foster a free and open internet, collaboration, and cooperation on cyber matters across Africa and promote the development of best practices, cyber awareness, education, innovation, and research.

A continent of fifty-four nations, Africa holds opportunity and vast potential. With a population of 1.2 Billion, the continent is expected to double by 2050 becoming the world’s largest region. It is home to almost half the world’s fastest-growing economies, facilitating governments and leadership having to address critical questions in the digital space.
In collaboration with key partners, the COE will host a series of virtual and in-person events, conduct research, and deliver forward-thinking analysis, leadership through policy and strategy sessions that will focus on and promote:
- Strengthening cyber freedom + human rights.
- Promote an open public forum.
- Foster collaboration and Cooperation on cyber matters across Africa.
- Research on cyber matters and advancement of knowledge.
- Provide support to Governments on cyber-related matters.
- Contribution towards the development of African cyber-related best practices and standards.
The COE anticipates how these factors underpin leadership, public-private engagement with implications for continental and international stakeholders. In particular, the COE provides analysis on trends including cybersecurity, cyberspace, internet freedom, policy reform programs cooperation within the continent and on the international stage against the backdrop of political and civic spaces across the region.
